1 – A Dance with Destiny

Destiny Flower was a “exotic dancer”.  She had been a “exotic dancer” for quite a long time.  Destinies mom had always called it “exotic dancing” and so did she even though it was really just “stripping”.  It paid good money, but for that she had to put up with guys leering at her body while she “danced” and she didn’t like that.  In fact she was thinking about getting out of it.  Destiny had been more and more ashamed of herself because something that was in fact so degrading had become her whole life.

She had started dancing when she was in school because she could make money.  And even though she wasn’t as attractive as when she was younger, she could still in fact make alot of money if she let some of the more touchy guys touch a little.  But that was all the more reason she would be ashamed.

Destiny had a really hard day.  The guys seemed to all be getting really drunk and grabby, so she was even more frustrated and ashamed.  While Destiny was leaving the club to go to her home which was a trailer, she met Mindy who was another “dancer” at the club they “danced” at.  “Hi Mindy!,” she said happily.

Mindy siad, “Hi Destiny baby!”  Than she asked her,  “How are you doing?”

Destiny thought that maybe it was time to be honest with somebody else.  She said, “I’m not happy.  I don’t want to always be a “exotic dancer” because I’m ashamed of myself and I think I can be a better person you know.  And I want to go back to school and be a lawyer.”

Mindy said, “well you always were really smart.  And I can understand that because sometimes i’m ashamed too.  But I know i’m not smart enough to do that but you are.”

Destiny said a really long aw. And then she said “Thanks.”  And then she said, “This talk really made me feel better.”

Destiny walked outside the back door which she was near and then walked out under a Gibbous Moon.  And Mandy followed behind her.  They were both going out to their respective cars.  It was late and the parking lot was just about empty except for a couple of cars from the people who worked at the “exotic dance” club and for some of the men who had been too drunk to drive home and so whom had had cabs called for them.  It wasn’t often that they would see men whom had been in the club outside the club after after the club had closed and they were all leaving to go home, but as they were walking out there was one man who was standing at the edge of the parking lot.  He had on a long coat and looked serious.  He was tall but not too tall, and looked mostly about average but he was also pretty handsome.  Also he was really pale.

They both looked at the man standing under the light cautiously because they didn’t trust him.  It could be anyone out there at night.  And generally men who would wait around to see the “exotic dancers” were pretty scuzzy.

Mandy said, “Do you want me to go get the bouncer Big Dave?” She asked that to Destiny.

Destiny just looked at the man standing under the light.  Somehow he was intriguing and he didn’t scare her at all.  And she remembered him from inside too, and he hadn’t been really scuzzy and had seemed like a nice guy.  He looked back at her and smiled at her and she smiled a little too.

Destiny said, “No I remember him from inside and I think he’s okay too because he didn’t seem scuzzy at all and was really a real gentleman.”

Mandy said, “Well okay, then I trust you then.”

And so they walked across the parking lot and he just stood there while they did.  They both got to their respective cars and got in, and the mysterious guy was still standing their with the Gibbous Moon above him.  Mindy got into he car first and sat down and closed the door but first she said, “Good night Destiny.  You should really go back to school like you said you were going to.”

Destiny said, “Yeah i think i really will.  I am ready to make a change and not be ashamed of what I do any more.”  And she really meant it.

And then Destiny got into her car as well.  She didn’t start her car and leave right away because she was doing things like putting her purse down and checking her lipstick and things like that.  Then she adjusted the mirror too.  And at this point Mindy had driven away, and when she did Destiny could hear her playing really loud music from her car, but then she was gone and it was silent.  And when Destiny finally looked up again the parking lot was empty and quiet except for the mysterious man who was still standing over at the side of the parking lot under the Gibbous Moon.

Destiny finally got out her keys.  They jingled in her hand like clink clank clink.  She looked down to try to pick out the one that would start the car, but with only the light of the Gibbous Moon she was having trouble seeing.  Then she thought of the idea of opening her car door so she could use the light on the inside of the roof of the car to see by.  When she looked up from her keys the man who was standing their was not standing their.  He was just gone!

Destiny shrugged to herself and then pulled the handle and as the door opened she looked up.

And the man who was gone was standing right outside her car door!

She was startled and jumped in her seat and let out a short screaming noise. This was because the parking lot was pretty big so it was pretty surprising for him to be all the way from the other side to right next to her car in just that short time.

The man said, “Oh I’m sorry I scared you.  I just wanted to check and see if you were all right because you seemed like you had been in your car waiting for a long time.”

And Destiny thought that she had been secretly hoping that maybe he would come over because she secretly thought she kindof liked him or at least wanted to give him a chance because he didn’t seem as scuzzy but she was only scared like surprise scared for that second and she said, “Oh no, I’m OK I was just getting ready to go home but thank you for checking on me.”

Also when she had screamed and jumped she threw her car keys at the door so they fell out through the crack in the now a jar door and onto the ground.  The man picked up her keys and then opened the door a little more and helt the keys in for her so they were dangling.  And he was holding the right key to start the car, which was the key she had been looking for.

The man said, “I believe these are yours.”  And then he smiled and she felt good about it.

He seemed so nice and handsome that she decided to take a chance.  So Destiny said, “Would you like to go for a walk in the Moonlight?”

And the man said, “I would love to go for a walk, as long as it is with you.”

Destiny blushed when he said that, and she took her keys and tossed them on the car seat (because it was a small town and people didn’t really worry about things like that, epsecially late at night).  And she got out and they went walking down a path that started at the back of the parking lot and went along a field and under some trees.

It was pretty bright out, and only a little cold.  They walked and could only here the sounds of the woods and stuff around them.  It was a really nice night, sometimes the owl would make a hoot sound, and sometimes they could hear other animal sounds too.  It was like walking in the woods at night.  And he seemed very gentlemanly walking next to her.  She didn’t know what to say at first, but was just enjoying walking with him and the sounds of the night and seeing the stars.  And there were so many stars out that the night sky was filled like with a gigantic massive school of twinkling unmoving fish.

Finally Destiny said, “My name is Destiny.”

The man said, “Thats a wonderful name.  My name is Hunter, or at least that’s what they call me.  My real name is hard to pronounce because I’m not from around here.”  And then she noticed that he had a really unique accent that she’d never really heard before.

She said, “That is a different accent then any I have ever heard before, but its really really wonderful.  Where is it from.”

He said, “Oh,” but he said it like he was whimsically thinking about his home, “its from very far away.”

And she said, “I’ve probably heard of it.  Tell me where it is you are from.”

And he said, “It’s farther then you can imagine.”

Then she said, “Well, try me.”

So then he said, “Well, its about a million trillion miles away that way” and while he said “that way” he point kindof at the moon but lower like he was point above the horizon but not at the land.

So Destiny said, “I may not know much, but i know that thats farther then the whole entire world is big.”

He said, “Yes.  By a lot.”

Destiny opened her mouth in a big surprise capital o.  She said, “That must mean that you are from…”

He looked at her deadly serious and said, “Yes.  I’m from outer space.  And i’m a vampire!”

And then he bit her.
