I got asked a question (and updated the site).

I’m always a little surprised when someone asks if i realized that i used the wrong ‘your’ or points out that it should be ‘an’ instead of ‘a’.  I wonder, at least briefly, what they think of me.  Do i convey an air of incompetence?  Is it even a question that if i tried to write something well that i’d at least get the basic grammar and demonstrate the simplest grasp of language?

But i don’t think that’s it.

I think instead, when faced with something as incomprehensibly terrible as what i’ve created, there is a very human response to not know how to respond.  The brain gets filled with conflicts between confusion, politeness, grammatical pedantry… So they say the obvious thing.  It’s the literary equivalent of  “Oh congratulations, when are you due?”

I mean, it’s not. That’s just the first thing i thought of that’s somewhat close.  And if i learned anything during this project, it’s write the first thing you thought of and then move on.

So i tell myself that people are overwhelmed, and i don’t feel bad that everyone thinks i’m an idiot.

But now they can get the answer right on this site, because i’ve gotten my first Asked Question.  I’ve also added an some inspiration: Moon People is a thing that (very heavily) influenced this project.

Cheers,

-Soupy
